Male, born in Scotland sometime in the first half of the 20th Century, name ; "Alex" pronounced "Ah-lick" or even "Ah=leck" not "Ahl-X's". His formal name is Alexander but prefers Alex pronounced as above. On official documents he uses his full name Alexander Kidd Cummings
A qualified Toolmaker he
moved up the ladder of success into various managerial and
supervisory positions it was when he a production planner that
he had his first encounter with computers.
In the late '1980's he was
terrified by a mainframe computer and required intensive
therapy, after which he resolved to master the beasts.
While he was still confined to using a terminal linked to a
mainframe he learned to program on an IBM main frame
computer using APL. and ADRS.
Alex graduated onto PC's and was bitten by a well known bug becoming a PC addict. After obtaining one of the first PC's (only two floppy drives no hard or even "stiffy" drive) he spent long hours huddled over it. whilst others were playing games on their machines he was learning how to program firstly in "Basic" later in Delphi and others. Alex is now a competent programmer.
He has written in Delphi, HTML, Java Script, Dynamic HTML,
Cascading Style Sheets.
Although he completely supports the concept of open source
programming he is not anti Microsoft and uses their products
when he sees fit, as also believes in free enterprise and
considers that it is mostly jealousy that causes most of the
complaints about them. At least they have created a common
platform for the masses to use. Remember the days when
there was about six word processing and spreadsheet suites, none
of which was compatible with the other, "nuf said".
Having
attended the Glasgow school of Art, he found it easier and
quicker to use the medium of photography to express his art.
Being used to manipulating reality he naturally chose Prints
especially Colour prints. Eventually gaining an APSSA in
Colour Prints from the Photographic Society of South Africa.
In the early '90's he lectured on the future of digital
photography and despite the disbelief of his audience has been
proven correct. He also breeds
Pomeranian Dogs
Alex has been designing and
hosting web pages for many years. Having gone through various
design phases using pure HTM then integrating some Java Script.
Now most of the pages which he designs rely mainly on CSS to
operate. Alex also finds the occasional use for Flash and
Php in his designs.

Having said that he supports Microsoft he
cannot agree with their policy of their browser automatically
blocking anything which has a Jscript or Flash content. Alex is
of the opinion that websites should always be functional and
attractive using the most up to date methods. At present he is
learning the new features of CSS3 and HTLM5
